Jungle
The gaming industry is constantly evolving, demanding both visual innovation and technical sophistication. Jungle, a pioneering web3 gaming studio, faced a significant challenge in developing a visual language for their groundbreaking mobile RPG shooter. They tasked us with creating 75 static and animated character illustrations inspired by the themes of seed, fruit, and juice within a forest setting. This ambitious project brought unique challenges, as we aimed to redefine game asset creation through AI-driven design while capturing the essence of their imaginative vision.

01 Context & Challenge
Jungle is a web3 gaming studio building a mobile RPG shooter set in a forest universe — characters organized around the themes of seed, fruit, and juice. They arrived with early visual references but no consolidated brand guide or illustration system. The brief was concrete: 75 static and animated character illustrations, with visual consistency across all of them, in a style that balanced a fantastical forest aesthetic with a futuristic, blockchain-enabled brand identity.

02 Strategic Intent
The real challenge wasn't the volume — it was that no ready-made solution existed. Keeping characters visually consistent with generative AI, and animating them in seamless loops, required building something from scratch. The decision was to develop a proprietary workflow rather than adapt existing tools: design an illustration style engineered for AI consistency, then build a custom ComfyUI pipeline capable of generating and animating assets at scale without losing coherence between characters.
03 What We Built
A custom illustration and animation framework built on ComfyUI and Stable Diffusion, developed specifically for this project. Hundreds of AI tests were run per theme to define the visual formula. The workflow used AI inpainting to select and animate specific areas of each illustration, producing seamless loops — a technique the team had never applied before at this scale. The result was 75 illustrated and animated characters delivered in 6 weeks, with a consistent visual language across all of them.
04 Impact & Extension
The project proved that AI's value in design isn't just speed — it's the ability to build entirely new creative methodologies. Rather than generating assets, the team became tool-makers: engineering a system tailored to a specific visual and technical challenge.
The workflow developed for this project became a foundation for how MAAR approaches animation and illustration at scale.
